Advertisement Questions!

1)  How does advertising influence consumption?

Well, when these advertisements are on the TV, billboards, telemarketers come out creative and smart, people will want to buy it. Simply as that, because these things look so good, so efficient or that product is what you need, people will buy it, and if people buy it, they will buy more! So when they buy more, they'll consume more and more each day. Fortunately, there are advertisements that make you want to be aware of it, like ideas ad or "Save the World" ad, for example. If these advertisements are about the environment of the people right now, or about the Global Warming, we can use that to spread the idea of not consuming so much stuff.

2) Do you think citizens are sufficiently informed about the sustainability of our consumption habits? If not, how can we become more informed about sustainability issues?

I think some were informed, some weren't. That's why we need ECO advertisements as help, because people will be more aware of it. Even better, they will back down from their shopping time and spend more time on something else!

3) Do you think these advertising techniques influence what you and your friends purchase?

Yes! Of course! If the ads are about food and drinks, like Pizza Hut or Pepsi. They will certainly use the goody goodness of the new features (like Cheese in Crust) or new version of the drink (Pepsi Max is another example). They'll make it so good, you just have to jump in and buy it!

These are my examples for sustainable development:

1) Use solar energy (as well as water and wind)
2) Reuse paper or recycle them
3) Use renewable energy
4) Plant more trees! (Rather than cutting them down)
5) Use less chemicals on farming crops
6) Plant more trees in urban area
7) Walk instead of drive to reduce the car factory's smoke!

Migration/Immigration Narrative paragraph!

Hi, my name is Emma. I'm a normal flight attendance and I am sitting next to a small girl about 7-8 years old. "So where do you live?" I asked her. "I live in America! It's my first time on a plane!" She responded with her cute little voice. The moment I started a conversation with her, the more I learn about her; more than an average person would know about someone they just met. Her name is Rose Peterson. Currently, she is immigrating from America to Philippine. Her dad is a solider working for an army force in Afghanistan. Due to her father's condition, he no longer can move out of Asia. She told me that it was the affect of the pull factor, which means that Philippine, was the only place she could live nearest with her dad right now. Her dad was forbidden to move out of Asia right now, since he did not have an immigrating passport.

"Where's your mum?" I asked her. "Daddy told me that Mommy is going to a far place! In the North Pole! She's living with Santa!" She told me. Internal migration, I thought to myself. It seems like history's repeating itself, for me at least. My dad used to be in a war too, just like hers. My family had to move to his hometown instead of Philippine like Rose, but we were poor that time, we had to negotiate and work for the affordable amount of money. I guess she had to move to meet her father; she must miss him a lot, while me, I must move there. If not, I won't have anyone to help me working, we were broke and the landlord was very cruel. "Daddy said that, he misses the atmosphere of nature in America. He was very sad, because that place he's in right now is dirty, and unhealthy, and not fun at all." Then she told me that she doesn't want to move to Philippine, because she doesn't know how to act to new people, and she was afraid that she would be picking on, since she's white. "Don't be that sad. There are good things too! Have you ever wondered how the atmosphere will be like? Change of weather and climate? It would be so fun! Trust me!" After my sentence, she then told me how she misses America, the birds, the squirrels, wondered how she will see snow again. She would also miss the place she had breakfast at, her friends, her school, she missed everything in America. I glanced over to look at her and noticed that she's sleeping, I let her sleep and let myself fell into a deep slumber, too.

A message from Mother Nature?

1) I think the main point of this article is that, to show that planet Earth is heating up, and it is showing through the climate changes and weathering.

2) Skeptics (in par. 11, section Theory vs. Proof) and dispute (in par. 11, section Theory vs. Proof)

Skeptics - A person who doubts easily without an explanation or an answer, or that person makes a lot of questions or/and disagreement.or generally accepted conclusions.

Dispute - To argue or debate.

3) Weather is the day-to-day state of atmosphere, and it happens in a short period of time. While climate is like weather, but it happens through the latitude, terrain and altitude, and it happens in a long period of time.

4) I can't find that article, and i re-read it over 3 times.

5) I can't find that article, and i re-read it over 3 times.

6) Becoming aware of something via the senses.

7) The climate in Vietnam is starting to get hotter every year, I can feel it. Last night was the warmest night I've ever experienced. I think the climate is going to have the biggest change within 2010 until 2015.

The story of my world, Teacup Kingdom!

Teacup Kingdom!
A long time ago, there was a person who always loved to drink tea, and his name was Jim McCain. He bought an island and named it Teacup Kingdom! In Teacup Kingdom, there were 5 countries. There was the capital, Green Tea, next was the wildest city, Black Tea. The hottest city, White Tea, and its cousin, Oolong Tea city. Last but not least, Herbal Tea, the smallest city in the Kingdom. There you go the five cities.
In Black Tea city, we had plenty of sights to see, like the marvelous Cinnamon State Building. Also, the great statue of Maple Tea, which was placed on an island not far away from Black Tea city! The people in Black Tea city tend to love parties and hanging out a lot! It snows there in winter and has a lot of squirrels, not to mention deer. In the summer, June got windy and a bit chilly for the month, but once we turned to July, it would make people as sweaty as sumo wrestlers!
In White Tea city, we called it the hottest and most troublesome city ever in Teacup Kingdom! In White Tea, everyone were very wild, the Honeywood, and the Almond Hills. In White Tea, we had a lot of earthquakes, sometimes we had Milk Tea waves hitting on the shore and many more disasters. People moved out of White city a lot! Sometimes the Milk Tea sea were getting hot and it melted and blended together with the Graham biscuit sand, so pretty much it took parts of White city bits by bits, people living near there are slowly moving out!
Oolong Tea city, the cousin of White Tea city. Things working out in Oolong city were not very much like White city. Things are pretty peaceful and life were taking Oolong city in a trace pace. The reason why people called this city the cousin of the “Wildest city” was because of the movement of people. The Graham sand was being eaten off, so people moved to Oolong city a lot. Sometimes, even without the reason of Graham Sea were going to be gone, people still moved here to get the peaceful feeling.
Last but not least, Herbal Tea city and Green Tea city. Herbal Tea city lived next to Green Tea city, which means, they were neighbor. As always as it seems, the capital was the most political related city. So if you want to go on vacation, you chose either White Tea or Black Tea. Green city had a lot of statues of the creator, Jim; people grown fond of him for creating this part of Earth. There was absolutely no President on Teacup Kingdom, but there were rules that were stated when Jim was still alive. Herbal Tea city was a lovely city, everything was normal there. At the corner of Herbal Tea, there was a river that connects to Oolong Tea city. People lived here a lot! The population of Herbal Tea city took almost 50% of the country! Just like White city, everything was hot, the good thing was, there were no tectonic plates hitting each other under the ground, which made earthquakes were unknown to the citizens of Herbal city!

Tarrytown, New York!

This is my homework! I'm going to talk about the last time I went on a trip to New York and how is it there! I was at New York for a month, it's actually a summer school study trip. So my school was located in a town called Tarrytown. It was a nice, small town, that was next to Sleepy Hollow! The first thing I thought about these climates are strange, because I have never in my life, experienced such a cold, cool weather!! It is rather cold and windy in the morning, it was sunny, too! The land was kind of up the hill and my school is located up the hill! There are many trees and many parks. I first saw signs of "Beware of Deers crossing" in Tarrytown! It was kind of funny when I thought there would be one! There are lots of squirrels here! I caught one and kept to myself for 15 minutes then I let it go! In Tarrytown, it is very likely for you to choose a squirrel for a mascot! I saw deer too! 3 of 'em! It was so cool, but they only go out only at night or very early in the morning when there are no people!

By the time changes, from the morning to noon, it got warmer for a bit, but still windy. The sun sets at 8 and a half to 9, it was a very long time! It got colder in the evening, and the blanket there was very very thin, and short. I shivered a lot! Well, mostly my teeth chattered but I did shiver too. During week 3 and 4, the weather suddenly turned all summery, it was hot and super dry! The sun was beaming at us, and my group had a problem, since we only brought cold clothes. Luckily, we all have jeans and t-shirts for emergency. We sweated throughout week 3 and 4. In the last day of New York, the weather turned back to how it was for us on the first day! It was cold and breezy! We had fun there! I love New York and I'd love to come there again!

About me!

Hello Mr. Blake and whoever you are reading my blog! My name is Aeris, pretty much obvious to your information. I am an 8th grader! I am currently studying in AIS, and having the Super Teacher, Mr. Blake as my Social Studies teacher!

I considered myself as an EI (Emotional Intelligence) person, and since I used most of my left brain (or is it right?) side. I like to read, a lot! I write stories, but I am on hiatus for a short time, since I have writer's block. I like food and especially sweets, I can eat a large amount of sweets without getting fat! I also like to draw, listen to music and sit there doing nothing! I have been learning English since I was a little girl, and now, it has been 9 years since that time. My favorite color is Blue (and every color that relates to it).

So that's pretty much about me! I have lots and lots of hobby, but maybe later on I'll reveal it :)

Hope you enjoy Mr. B!
